Setting up a waterbed consists of building the frame; setting up the pedestal and decking; and installing and filling the heater, liner and mattress. The pedestal is the base section of the bed, and consists of several interlocking pieces of wood that function to support the decking and frame and keep the mattress level. A waterbed pedestal must be installed correctly, or you may find that your bed tilts in an undesirable direction.
